Who we are

SD Roofing works out of New Pitsligo, covering the towns and villages of north Aberdeenshire. Here is how we work. We are based in New Pitsligo and everything we take on is within reach of it, which is deliberate. A firm travelling from Aberdeen has to make the journey pay, so the small jobs get turned down and the quotes come in higher. We are already here.

How we quote

We come out, get to the roof properly rather than looking at it from the pavement, and take photographs of anything you cannot see for yourself. You get a written price with the work and materials itemised. That price holds unless we open something up and find rot underneath, and in that case we stop and ring you with a photograph before spending any more of your money.

There is no charge for the visit and nobody will follow it up with a phone call trying to talk you into it.

What we will and will not do

We will tell you when a roof only needs a repair, even when we have been asked to quote for a new one. We will also tell you when a roof is beyond patching — there is no sense taking payment for a repair on a nail-sick roof that will let go again by spring.

We will not pressure-wash a roof. It is sold widely and it takes years off a covering, and our reasoning is set out on the roof cleaning page. We will not cap uPVC over rotten fascia timber either, for the same reason: it hides the problem rather than fixing it.

Our guarantee

All our work is guaranteed. If something we have fitted or repaired fails, ring us and we will come back and put it right.

We would rather get it right the first time, which is why we trace a leak to where the water is actually getting in instead of patching the nearest slate, and why we lift the sarking on a re-roof rather than laying new slate over soft timber. Doing it that way costs us a bit more on the day and saves both of us coming back.
