Fraserburgh sits on a corner of coast that catches wind off the North Sea from the north and the east with nothing in front of it. Two things follow from that, and we see both constantly. Fixings corrode faster here than eight miles inland, because the air carries salt — a galvanised nail that would last thirty years at Turriff will not manage it in Broadsea. And chimney stacks, standing proud of everything else, take the full force of it and lose their pointing years before the roof below needs anything.
